Abstract

The calculations of the mass of titanium nitride formed in the austenitic steel in the range of concentrations of titanium 0,1 – 0,7 % and the metal from 1525 to 1456 °C. It is shown that 61 – 63 % of the total weight of titanium nitride is formed in the tundish ladle and a 37 – 39 % – in the mold to form coarse defects such as “cakes”. Lowering the temperature of austenitic steel in the tundish ladle by 10 °C can redistribute the mass of titanium nitride released in steel downsize “cakes” in the mold by 14 – 15 %.
